hilst cooking some porridge the other morning in the microwave we saw some worrying sparks coming from inside the microwave. On closer inspection the enamel inside the microwave had chipped away and the bare metal was visible. This bare metal was causing the microwave to arc. Needless to say the thing was immediately thrown away and we are now the proud owners of a combination microwave.

The quite remarkable thing it does is you can use more than one function at a time. By that I mean that you can place a roast in the oven (in a microwave safe container) and set cook it in the fan oven mode for an hour but at the same time you can blast it with 10% or 40% microwaves. This function dramatically cuts the cooking time and really does give great results.
Since we have had this counter top combination microwave we have not used our large stove oven at all. The savings to electricity bills are quite significant. Instead of heating a large oven to cook just a cake or chicken, we are just heating the small combination microwave.
Well worth the investment!
